The Ridges of Summerlin: Guard-Gated Luxury With Red Rock Views

When buyers tell me they want the most private, most scenic corner of Summerlin, there is really only one answer: The Ridges. This is the village people picture when they dream of Las Vegas living with the desert as a back garden. I am Samantha Medeiros, and after years of showing homes in this corner of the valley, here is my honest local's guide to Summerlin's premier guard-gated enclave, and what to know before you come look for yourself.

The Ridges is not a place you stumble into by accident. It sits on the far western edge of Summerlin, up in the foothills of the Spring Mountains, tucked against the border of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. That position does two things. It puts some of the highest building elevations in the Las Vegas Valley under your feet, which means noticeably cooler summer evenings, and it frames your view with open, federally protected desert that no future development will ever fill in. From the right lot, the Strip glitters on one horizon and the Red Rock escarpment glows on the other.

A Village Built Behind Gates

Privacy is the whole point here. The Ridges is double-guard-gated, with two 24-hour staffed entrances, and inside it splits into roughly eight gated sub-communities, from Azure and Redhawk to Rim Rock, Silver Ridge, and Fairway Hills. If you want a neighborhood where kids can ride bikes to the park, where every guest checks in with the guard, and where the only traffic is your own neighbors, this is the corner of Summerlin built for it.

Golf Is Being Reimagined

The village was built around Bear's Best, the Jack Nicklaus-designed course. That course closed to public play in 2025 and is now being redeveloped into Amara Golf Club, a private, members-only club with new club villas and custom homes planned in the years ahead. For current residents it means an even quieter, more exclusive atmosphere. For buyers it is a clear signal of how much this corner of Summerlin is still evolving.

Trails Straight Out Your Door

For a village known for luxury, The Ridges is surprisingly outdoorsy. Desert parks and pocket trails thread through the community, and the wider Summerlin Trail System hooks in so you can walk or hike for miles, all the way to the edge of Red Rock Canyon. On a good evening you will see neighbors out on the paths while the sun drops behind the escarpment. It is the rare gated community that feels this connected to the outdoors.

What to Know Before You Look

The Ridges is custom-estate territory. Most lots are oriented either to Red Rock Canyon or to the Strip skyline, and homes here rank among the most sought-after addresses in the valley. It is a lifestyle purchase as much as a real estate one: expect strong community associations, a longer driveway, and neighbors who value their privacy as much as you do. If that sounds like your kind of place, it is worth the drive out to see it in person.

The Ridges is a village you have to feel to believe, and the views really do that much of the work. Search homes in The Ridges to see what is currently on the market. And if you have been curious about this village, or any corner of Summerlin, reach out and let us tour it together. I would love to help you find the place that feels like home.
