Settling Into the School Year in Summerlin: A Parent's Guide to After-School Activities and Family Resources

School is officially back in session across Summerlin. Clark County School District kicked off the 2026-2027 year on Monday, August 10, which means we are one week into routines, carpools, and the familiar rhythm of the school year. If you are a parent in Summerlin, you know that getting the school schedule down is only half the puzzle. The other half is figuring out what comes after the bell rings.

Summerlin is one of those rare communities where you can build an entire week of after-school activities without leaving the neighborhood. From youth sports leagues to art classes to academic enrichment, here is your go-to guide for what is available this fall.

Youth Sports Leagues for Every Age

Fall sports registration is open now all over Summerlin. Summerlin North Little League and Summerlin South Little League are both accepting sign-ups for the fall baseball and softball season. If soccer is more your child's speed, AYSO Region 1258 serves the Summerlin area with a low-pressure, everyone-plays philosophy that I have seen build confidence in kids of all skill levels. For basketball families, Nothing But Net (NBN) Youth Basketball runs leagues out of Las Vegas Sports Park, and the Summerlin Basketball League (NJB) offers community-based play for local kids. The City of Las Vegas also runs youth sports leagues for ages 3 and up in flag football, soccer, volleyball, and more, with fall registration running through August 19 and the season starting September 19.

Enrichment, Tutoring, and the Arts

For families looking to supplement academics, the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Summerlin and Challenger School both offer structured after-school programs that keep kids sharp. The Summerlin Council's Special Interest Classes are a hidden gem: dance, acting, arts and crafts, and sports and fitness classes for kids, teens, and toddlers, held at community centers throughout the area. MyGym Summerlin on South Grand Canyon Drive runs drop-off after-school classes in gymnastics, sports, and even LEGO building. And if your child leans toward STEM, Engineering for Kids runs camps and classes at the Gardens Community Center that turn screen time into build time.

The Weekend Lineup: Farmers Markets and Family Fun

Now that the school week has a structure, weekends in Summerlin are a chance to reset and reconnect. The Summerlin Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Downtown Summerlin through November, and it is one of those quintessential community experiences. Grab fresh produce, baked goods, and local honey, then let the kids burn off energy on the lawn. There is also the Bruce Trent Park Farmers Market on Wednesdays from 2 to 8 p.m. if you need a mid-week stop. And do not miss Friday Nite Live on August 21, featuring live music from Radical West on The Lawn at Downtown Summerlin. Free, family-friendly, and a wonderful way to ease into the weekend.

“One of the things I hear most from families who move to Summerlin is how easy it is to build a routine here. The schools, the activities, the parks, the community events — everything is close, and everything is good.”

Whether you are a new family figuring out your first school year in Summerlin or a longtime resident looking to try something new, there is no shortage of ways to keep your kids engaged, active, and learning. And if you are considering a move to Summerlin and wondering what the schools and family life are really like, I would love to connect.
